سَلامٌ عَلى مَن لا يَرُدُّ سَلامي

سَلامٌ عَلى مَن لا يَرُدُّ سَلامي

وَمَن لا يَراني مَوضِعاً لِكَلامِ

وَمَن لا يَراني مَوضِعاً لِكَلامِ

Greetings to one who does not return my greeting,

And who does not deem me worthy of speech.

وَماذا عَلَيهِ أَن يُجيبَ مُسَلِّماً

وَماذا عَلَيهِ أَن يُجيبَ مُسَلِّماً

وَلَيسَ يُقَضّى بِالسَلامِ ذِمامي

وَلَيسَ يُقَضّى بِالسَلامِ ذِمامي

And what would it cost him to answer one who greets him?

And a greeting does not discharge the obligation owed to me.
