لا آكُلُ التُفاحَ دَهري وَلَو

لا آكُلُ التُفاحَ دَهري وَلَو

جَنَيتَهُ لي مِن جِنانِ الخُلودِ

جَنَيتَهُ لي مِن جِنانِ الخُلودِ

I will never eat apples in my lifetime, even if

I do not eat apples eternal though

You picked them for me from the gardens of eternity.

You have plucked them for me from the gardens of eternity

وَاللَهِ ما أَترُكُهُ مِن قِلىً

وَاللَهِ ما أَترُكُهُ مِن قِلىً

لَكِنَّني أَكرَهُهُ لِلخُدودِ

لَكِنَّني أَكرَهُهُ لِلخُدودِ

By God, I do not shun them out of hatred,

By God, I do not spurn them out of disdain

But I dislike them for the sake of cheeks.

Rather, I dislike them for the cheeks
