لي على الناس فضل نظم وعلم

لي على الناس فضل نظم وعلم

من أباه هجوته وأباه

من أباه هجوته وأباه

I surpass others in verse and learning.

Whoever denies it, I lampoon him and his father.

وإذا ما أتى صفعت قفاه

وإذا ما أتى صفعت قفاه

وقفا من أعانه وقفاه

وقفا من أعانه وقفاه

And whenever he comes, I slap his nape,

And the nape of whoever helps him and follows him.

رحم اللَه من أراد محالا

رحم اللَه من أراد محالا

فنهاه عن المحال نهاه

فنهاه عن المحال نهاه

May God have mercy on one who desired the impossible,

And whose reason then restrained him from the impossible.
