An enemy who went about in a friend's robes,
A partner in the morning drink and the evening drink.
لهhe has نظرthe gaze of الشفيقone who cares بمقلتيهin his two eyes
له نظر الشفيق بمقلتيه
وليسand there is no وراءهbehind it نظرgaze of الشفيقone who cares
وليس وراءه نظر الشفيق
His two eyes show a caring gaze,
Yet behind it there is no caring gaze.
لهhe has وجهانtwo faces ظاهرهhis outward self ابنson of عمa paternal uncle
له وجهان ظاهره ابن عم
وباطنهand his inward self ابنson of زانيةa whore عتيقthoroughbred
وباطنه ابن زانية عتيق
He has two faces: outwardly, a paternal cousin;
And inwardly, a thoroughbred son of a whore.
يسركhe pleases you معلناًopenly ويسوءand causes distress مراًbitterly
يسرك معلناً ويسوء مراً
كذاكsuch يكونare أبناءthe sons of الطريقthe road
كذاك يكون أبناء الطريق
He pleases you openly, yet bitterly distresses you;
Such are the sons of the road.
