Whoever burns in my fire, without offense or blood-debt,

will burn in the fire of a noble man, no traitor.

I am your warner, openly warning you of myself,

so that I am not blamed for my admonition and my warning.

If you disobey my words today, then acknowledge

that you will suffer disgrace whose shame is plain.

You will surely become accursed tales,

a pastime for those at home and those traveling by night.

Whoever has within himself a desire he seeks to fulfill

from me—I stand ready for him on open ground.

I straighten his crookedness, if he is crooked,

as an arrow shaft of nabʿ wood is straightened by the carver.

And whoever seeks vengeance will never attain it

from me; I surely avenge the wrongs done to me.
