    O son of Fahd—you are one beside whom we do not see ourselves

    deemed any sort of peer in lofty virtue.

    The blossoms claimed that they were like the noble traits

    that are yours—alike in beauty of aspect and fragrance.

    وى فَلَمْ يَلْتَفِتْ إلى التَكْذيبِ

    So we showed them that they were lying in their claim;

    but they paid no heed to the refutation.

    So we sent them to you, that you might receive

    them as close-at-hand confirmation of our words.
