ولَيْلَةٍand a night لَيْلاءَpitch-dark فيin اللْthe (word fragment)
ولَيْلَةٍ لَيْلاءَ في اللْ
لَوْنِcolor كَلَوْنِlike the color of المِفْرَقِthe hair’s parting
لَوْنِ كَلَوْنِ المِفْرَقِ
And a night, pitch-black in

color, like hair at its parting;

كَأَنَّماas though نُجومُهاits stars
كَأَنَّما نُجومُها
فيin مَغْرِبٍwest ومَشْرِقِand east
في مَغْرِبٍ ومَشْرِقِ
as though its stars,
