يا واضِعاً بَيضَ القَطا

يا واضِعاً بَيضَ القَطا

تَحتَ الزَمامِجِ لِلفِراخِ

تَحتَ الزَمامِجِ لِلفِراخِ

O you who place sandgrouse eggs

O you who placed the eggs of the duck

O you who deposits the eggs of the sandgrouse,

beneath buzzards, to hatch chicks:

Under the incubators for the chicks

Beneath the birds of prey to hatch the chicks,

لَو أَيقَنَت ما تَحتَها

لَو أَيقَنَت ما تَحتَها

لَم تَخلُ مِن نَقرِ السِماخِ

لَم تَخلُ مِن نَقرِ السِماخِ

if they knew for certain what lay beneath them,

If only she knew what was beneath her

If they but knew what sits upon them,

you would not escape a peck in the ear.

She would not stop pecking with her beak

They would not cease from pecking at its ears,

يا غارِساً بِيَمينِهِ

يا غارِساً بِيَمينِهِ

شَجَرَ الحِفاظِ عَلى السِباخِ

شَجَرَ الحِفاظِ عَلى السِباخِ

O you who plant with your right hand

O you who planted with your right hand

O you who plants, with his own right hand,

trees of loyalty on salt flats:

The trees of protection over the paths

The tree of fidelity in barren salt-flats,

فَسَدَ الخَلائِقُ كُلُّهُم

فَسَدَ الخَلائِقُ كُلُّهُم

فَاِنظُر لِنَفسِكَ مَن تُؤاخي

فَاِنظُر لِنَفسِكَ مَن تُؤاخي

all humankind has grown corrupt,

So all people were blocked off

The character of all people has turned corrupt,

so consider, for your own sake, whom you take as a brother.

Look to yourself - who will you befriend?

So look well to yourself whom you take as brother.
