O you two reproachers, do not reproach me

For forgetting the friendship of companions.

For the estrangement of dear friends

For seeking to forget the bond of company,

مَرِضَ الوِدُّ وَالإِخاءُ وَبادا

مَرِضَ الوِدُّ وَالإِخاءُ وَبادا

فَدَعاني مِنَ المَلامِ دَعاني

فَدَعاني مِنَ المَلامِ دَعاني

Affection and brotherhood fell ill, and both perished.

Affection and brotherhood have fallen ill and perished

Affection has grown ill, and brotherhood has perished,

So spare me reproach—spare me.

So cease your blaming and reproaching me

So spare me from your blame, and let me be.
