رَسوليmy messenger قالَsaid أَوصَلتُI delivered الكِتاباthe letter
وَلَكِنand yet لَيسَnot يُعطونَthey give الجَواباthe reply
My messenger said, “I delivered the letter,
My messenger said, "I delivered the letter,
My messenger reported: "I have delivered the missive,"
and yet they give no reply.”
But they do not give an answer."
"And yet, they grant no answer in return."
فَقُلتُso I said أَلَيسَis it not قَدalready قَرَأواthey have read كِتابيmy letter
فَقالَso he said بَلىyes فَقُلتُso I said الآنَnow طاباall is well
So I said, “Have they not already read my letter?”
So I said, "Have they not read my letter?"
I asked, "But have they not read my letter?"
He said, “Yes.” So I said, “Now all is well!”
He said, "Yes." Then I said, "Very well."
He said, "Indeed." I replied, "Then all is well."
فَأَرجوso I hope أَنthat يَكونواthey will be هُمthey themselves جَوابيmy answer
بِلاwithout شَكٍّdoubt إِذاwhen قَرَأواthey read الكِتاباthe letter
So I hope that they themselves will be my answer,
So I hope they will be my answer,
For I hope that they, in person, shall be my reply,
without doubt, when they read the letter.
Without doubt, if they read the letter.
Without a doubt, now that they have read the script.
أَجِدُّI renew لَكَfor you المُنىthe hopes ياO قَلبُheart كَيلاlest
تَموتَyou die عَلَيَّon me غَمّاًof grief وَاِكتِئاباand despondency
I renew hopes for you, O heart, lest
I wish for you, O my heart, to stop
I renew these hopes for you, O heart, simply lest
you die on me of grief and despondency.
Dying of grief and depression over me.
You perish within me from grief and melancholy.
