حُبُّكَ يا أَحمَدُ أَضناني
ياO قَمَراًa moon فيin شَخصِthe form of إِنسانِa human being
يا قَمَراً في شَخصِ إِنسانِ
Love for you, O Ahmad, has worn me out.
Your love, O Ahmed, makes me swoon
Your love, O Ahmed, has worn me away,
O moon in human form,
Like a moon in human form
O moon embodied in the shape of a man,
ياO وَردَةًa rose أَعجَلَهاhastened its plucking قاطِفٌa picker
يا وَردَةً أَعجَلَها قاطِفٌ
مَرَّpassed بِهاby it مِنfrom بابِthe gate of عُثمانِUthman
مَرَّ بِها مِن بابِ عُثمانِ
O rose, plucked too soon by a picker
Like a rose plucked by a picker
O rose, too hastily snatched by a hand
Who passed by it, coming from Uthman's gate.
Who passed by Othman's door
That passed with it through the Gate of Uthman.
