جِنانُJinan أَضنىhas wasted away جَسَديmy body حُبُّكُمlove for you
فَلَيسَso it is not إِلّاexcept شَبَحٌa specter قائِمُstanding
Jinan, love for you has wasted my body away;
The gardens of delight have wasted my body, your love
Jinan, your love has wasted my body away,
so it is nothing but a standing specter.
So I am but a specter standing upright
Leaving nothing but a standing phantom.
وَلَيسَand there is not ليfor me جيبُa collar قَميصٍof a shirt وَلاnor
يَثبُتُstays in place فيon خِنصَرِيَmy little finger الخاتَمُthe ring
And I have no shirt collar, nor
I have no shirt pocket, no ring steadfast
My shirt finds no chest to fill its fold, nor
does the ring stay on my little finger.
On my waist
Does the ring stay fixed upon my little finger.
إِنif لَمnot يَكُنbe ماwhat قُلتُهُI said it هَكَذاso
إِنّيindeed I إِذَنthen ياO ظالِميyou who wrong me ظالِمُunjust
If what I have said is not so,
If I have not said it just so
If what I have spoken is not the truth,
then indeed, O you who wrong me, I am unjust.
Then I am, my tormentors, unjust
Then I, O my oppressor, am the oppressor.
