شَهِدَتattended جَلوَةَthe unveiling of العَروسِthe bride جِنانٌJinan
شَهِدَت جَلوَةَ العَروسِ جِنانٌ
فَاِستَمالَتand she captivated بِحُسنِهاwith her beauty النَظّارَهthe onlookers
فَاِستَمالَت بِحُسنِها النَظّارَه
Jinan attended the bride's unveiling.
The bride's attendants witnessed her beauty,
Jinan attended the unveiling of the bride,
And with her beauty she captivated the onlookers.
So they were captivated by her charm.
And with her beauty, she captivated all who gazed.
حَسِبوهاthey thought her العَروسَthe bride حينَwhen رَأَوهاthey saw her
حَسِبوها العَروسَ حينَ رَأَوها
فَإِلَيهاso toward her دونَrather than العَروسِthe bride الإِشارَهthe pointing
فَإِلَيها دونَ العَروسِ الإِشارَه
They thought her the bride when they saw her.
When they saw her, they mistook her for the bride,
They mistook her for the bride when she appeared,
So they pointed to her rather than to the bride.
So they gestured towards her, not the bride.
So toward her, not the bride, was every finger raised.
قالَsaid أَهلُthe family of العَروسِthe bride حينَwhen رَأَوهاthey saw her
قالَ أَهلُ العَروسِ حينَ رَأَوها
ماnot دَهاناafflicted us بِهاwith her سِوىexcept عَمّارَهAmmara
ما دَهانا بِها سِوى عَمّارَه
The bride's family said when they saw her:
When the bride’s family saw her, they said,
The family of the bride, upon seeing her, exclaimed:
"No one but Ammara has inflicted her on us."
“We have gained nothing but trouble from her.”
"None but Ammarah has visited this affliction upon us!"
