عَلَيَّ طُرقَ المَذاهِب
Indeed, calamity has barred
Troubles have blocked for me the ways of doctrine
Verily, this affliction has barred
Every path I might take,
When the eye of my heart saw his
Every path of escape from me,
إِذwhen أَبصَرَتbeheld عَينُthe eye قَلبيmy heart
إِذ أَبصَرَت عَينُ قَلبي

لِحَينِهِ المُتَقارِب
When my heart’s eye beheld,
Beautiful face drawing near.
When the eye of my heart beheld—
To its approaching doom,
A gazelle inclining, with each part,
To its own approaching doom—

عَلَيهِ مِن كُلِّ جانِب
A gazelle—youthful desire inclines
Toward him, from every side.
A gazelle toward whom desire sways
Toward him from every side.
For him dawns of beauty that have
From every single side;

He has sunrises of beauty
No setting.
He possesses sunrises of beauty
For which there are no sunsets.
That never know a setting.
