I yearned for the cymbals and the lute,

And for drinking wine from the largest cup.

Horses of yours that have proved splendid,

Ranging from dark brown to white.'

The first-run wine of the vineyard of Caesar's sons.

Like the body's blood within the aorta,

Mixed with water, from the daughters of the vine-

yards, it flowed in drops and was never pressed.

So the company did not leave until they bought it,

And whoever buys wine never loses.
