I startled him one day while he
I was with him one day when
I startled him one day while he was
slept, by striking the two bells.
The ringing of the anklets awoke him,
Sleeping, with the ringing of twin bells.

قالَ لي حَرَّكتَ هَذا
أَنتَyou ياO طالِبَseeker of شَينِdisgrace
أَنتَ يا طالِبَ شَينِ
He said to me, “Did you move this,
He said to me, "You have awakened them -
He said to me, 'Did you set this moving,
you seeker of disgrace?”
You, O seeker of evil!"
You, O seeker of disgrace?'
قُلتُI said لاno تَفديكَmay it ransom you نَفسيmy soul

I said, "May my soul redeem you,

and all humankind and jinn.”
And both worlds!"
And all the worlds of men and jinn.'
