Graceful of figure, delightful to embrace;
The nape of his neck is soft, embracing him is blissful
Graceful of stature, delightful to embrace,
he resembles the full moon when it reaches its fullness.
He resembles the full moon in its brightness
Likeness of the moon when its circle is complete.

موثَقاً في القَيدِ يَمشي في زَلَق
Heavy of haunch, when he turns away, he resembles
Heavy-thighed when he turns his walk tells
Weighted in the hips—when he turns away, he moves
one bound in fetters, walking on slippery ground.
As though fettered in chains he steps on slippery ground
Like a fettered captive treading on slippery ground.
وَإِذاand when أَقبَلَhe approaches كادَتnearly أَعيُنٌeyes

نَحوَهُ تَجرَحُ فيهِ بِالحَدَق
And when he approaches, eyes nearly
And when he comes it's as if eyes
And when he draws near, the eyes of beholders
wound him with their pupils as they gaze toward him.
Were pierced by his compelling gaze
Almost wound him with the piercing of their gaze.
هُوَhe فيin عَينيmy eye جَديدٌnew دائِماًalways
هُوَ في عَيني جَديدٌ دائِماً
وَسِواهُand apart from him الدَهرُthe world فيin عَينيmy eye خَلَقworn-out
وَسِواهُ الدَهرُ في عَيني خَلَق
He is always fresh in my eyes,
To me he is ever fresh, ever new
He is, within my sight, forever fresh and new,
and, apart from him, the world is threadbare in my eyes.
The rest of creation to me is trite dregs
While all else in the world seems worn and old.
