أَماتَcaused to die اللَهُGod مِنfrom جوعٍhunger رِقاشاًRiqash
أَماتَ اللَهُ مِن جوعٍ رِقاشاً
فَلَولاso, were it not for الجوعُthe hunger ماnot ماتَتdied رِقاشُRiqash
فَلَولا الجوعُ ما ماتَت رِقاشُ
God made Riqash die of hunger.
God starved Riqqash to death
God slew Raqash with the pangs of hunger,
For had it not been for hunger, Riqash would not have died.
If not for hunger, Riqqash would not have died
For were it not for hunger, Raqash would not have died.
وَلَوand if أَشمَمتَyou let smell مَوتاهُمtheir dead رَغيفاًa loaf of bread
وَلَو أَشمَمتَ مَوتاهُم رَغيفاً
وَقَدand already سَكَنواthey settled القُبورَthe graves إِذاًthen لَعاشواthey would surely have lived
وَقَد سَكَنوا القُبورَ إِذاً لَعاشوا
And had you let their dead smell a loaf of bread,
And if the scent of bread reached those who died
And had you let their dead but smell a loaf of bread,
though they had already settled in the graves, they would then have lived again.
Though now lying in their graves, they would have lived
Though dwelling in their graves, they would have come to life.
