وَأَدِرهُنَّ سِراعا
Give me seven cups in succession,
Pour me seven cups in succession
Pour me seven in a row,
And pass them round swiftly.
And churn them quickly
And pass them with a rapid flow.

ظِرُ إِن صُبَّت شُعاعا
Wine that the onlooker takes,
A coffee that onlookers would think
A wine the watcher would suppose,
When poured, for a ray of light.
A ray of sunlight if poured
When poured, a beam of sunlight glows.

O my two friends, drink it,

O friends, consume it! Do not fail
And cast off the veil as you drink.
And unveil yourself in it
To cast aside the modest veil.

The reproacher came early to forbid
The blamer arose early to rebuke me
The blamer came to bid me cease,
Me, but spurred me on as much as he could.
So I feigned all that I could
But only made my thirst increase.
