I was once a man of patience and endurance,
Mighty and unyielding against life's calamities.
But love has transformed me, until I am unable
To lift from the earth a mere twig with my hand.
So what is the excuse of one who has the power
To take the path that leads to granting grace?
You follow one breach of faith with another,
And string together rejection upon rejection.
She seeks no proof for the words I utter,
Save the witness she sees in my wasting away.
