رَسمُ الكَرى بَينَ الجُفونِ مَحيلُ

عَفّى عَلَيهِ بُكاً عَلَيكِ طَويلُ

The trace of slumber between the eyelids is worn away,

Obliterated by prolonged weeping over you.

ناظِراً ما أَقلَعَت لَحَظاتُهُ

حَتّى تَشَحَّطَ بَينَهُنَّ قَتيلُ

O gazer whose glances never desisted,

Until a slain victim wallowed in blood amidst them.

أَحلَلتُ مِن قَلبي هَواكِ مَحَلَّةً

ما حَلَّها المَشروبُ وَالمَأكولُ

I have granted your love a place within my heart

That neither drink nor food has ever occupied.

بِكَمالِ صورَتِكِ الَّتي في مِثلِها

يَتَحَيَّرُ التَشبيهُ وَالتَمثيلُ

By the perfection of your form, regarding which

Simile and representation stand bewildered;

فَوقَ القَصيرَةِ وَالطَويلَةُ فَوقَها

دونَ السَمينِ وَدونَها المَهزولُ

Above the short, while the tall is above her,

Below the plump, while the gaunt is below her.
