أما والطورِ والنورِ

وآياتِ الطواسينِ

وآياتِ الطواسينِ

Indeed, by the Mount and the Light,

By the sacred Mount Sinai,

By the Mount, I swear, and by the Light,

and by the verses of the Ta-Sin surahs,

By the revelation to the two Sinai's,

And by the verses of the Tawasin,

وحاميم وحاميم

وحاميم وحاميم

وحاميم ويسنِ

وحاميم ويسنِ

and by Ha-Mim, and by Ha-Mim,

Hamim and Hamim

And by Ha-Mim, and Ha-Mim,

and by Ha-Mim, and by Ya-Sin:

Hamim and Yaseen.

And by Ha-Mim, and Ya-Sin,

لماذا بكرُ ما عذّ

لماذا بكرُ ما عذّ

بَ قلبي بالجمادين

بَ قلبي بالجمادين

why has Bakr not tormented

Why has Bukr hurt my heart so,

Why does Bakr persist to tor-

my heart with the two lifeless things?

In the month of Jumada?

-ment my heart in the two Jumadas?

فحمدانُ بنو سيفٍ

فحمدانُ بنو سيفٍ

محلُّ الطيبِ واللينِ

محلُّ الطيبِ واللينِ

For Hamdan, of the sons of Sayf,

The sons of Saif are virtuous,

For Hamdan, the sons of Sayf,

is the abode of fragrance and gentleness:

Full of grace and gentleness.

Are the abode of grace and gentleness,

غزالٌ ليس مخلوقاً

غزالٌ ليس مخلوقاً

كخلقِ الناس من طينِ

كخلقِ الناس من طينِ

a gazelle, not created

Gazal is no human creature,

A gazelle who was not created

as people are, from clay,

Molded from mere clay.

As mankind is created from clay,

ولكن صيغَ من مسكٍ

ولكن صيغَ من مسكٍ

وأنواعِ الرياحينِ

وأنواعِ الرياحينِ

but fashioned from musk

Rather he's fashioned from musk

But was fashioned entirely from musk

and varieties of fragrant herbs.

And all sweet fragrances.

And varieties of fragrant herbs,

ربا في جنّةِ الخلدِ

ربا في جنّةِ الخلدِ

مع الحورِ بها العِينِ

مع الحورِ بها العِينِ

He grew up in the Garden of Eternity,

Lord, nurture him in Paradise,

Nurtured in the Garden of Eternity

with the wide-eyed houris there.

With the black-eyed houris.

Amidst the wide-eyed houris there.
