ياO أَيُّهَذاyou there المَلِكُthe king المُؤَمَّلُin whom hopes are placed
قَدِindeed اِستَزَرتَyou invited to visit عُصبَةًa company فَأَقبَلواso they came
O king in whom hopes are placed,
O King, in whom all hopes are placed,
You invited a company to visit, and they came;
You invited a company, and they came forth,
وَعُصبَةٌand a company لَمdid not تَستَزِرهُمyou invite them to visit طَفَّلواthey came uninvited
رَجَوكَthey placed their hopes in you فيin تَطفيلِهِمtheir coming uninvited وَأَمَّلواand they hoped
And a company you had not invited came unbidden.
And a group whom you did not invite came as unbidden guests,
In coming uninvited, they looked to you with hope and expectation;
Placing their hope in you despite their intrusion, full of expectation,
وَلِلرَجاءِand hope has حُرمَةٌa claim to respect لاnot تُجهَلُis ignored
And hope has a sanctity that cannot be ignored.
For hope possesses a sanctity that cannot be ignored.
