أَلاWill you not تَأتيcome to القُبورَthe graves صَباحَon the morning of يَومٍa day
أَلا تَأتي القُبورَ صَباحَ يَومٍ
فَتَسمَعَand so hear ماwhat تُخَبِّرُكَtell you القُبورُthe graves
فَتَسمَعَ ما تُخَبِّرُكَ القُبورُ
Will you not come to the graves one morning,
Will you not come to the graves one morning,
And hear what the graves tell you?
So you may hear what the graves have to tell?
فَإِنَّfor indeed سُكونَهاtheir stillness حَرَكٌmovements تَنادىcalling to one another
فَإِنَّ سُكونَها حَرَكٌ تَنادى
كَأَنَّas though بُطونَthe inner depths غائِبِهاof those hidden in them ظُهورُouter surfaces
كَأَنَّ بُطونَ غائِبِها ظُهورُ
For their stillness is movement calling out,
For their stillness is a commotion calling out,
As though the inner depths of those they hide lay bare.
As if their hidden interiors were visible surfaces.
