قُلsay لِلأَمينِto al-Amin جَزاكَmay He reward you اللَهُGod صالِحَةًwith good
قُل لِلأَمينِ جَزاكَ اللَهُ صالِحَةً
لاdo not تَجمَعِbring together الدَهرَever بَينَbetween السَخلِthe kid وَالذيبِand the wolf
لا تَجمَعِ الدَهرَ بَينَ السَخلِ وَالذيبِ
Say to al-Amin: May God reward you well.
Say to Al-Amin—may God reward you with good—
Never bring the kid and the wolf together.
Never bring together the lamb and the wolf;
السَخلُthe kid يَعلَمُknows أَنَّthat الذِئبَthe wolf آكِلُهُwill eat it
السَخلُ يَعلَمُ أَنَّ الذِئبَ آكِلُهُ
وَالذيبُand the wolf يَعلَمُknows ماwhat بِالسَخلِin the kid مِنof طيبِtastiness
وَالذيبُ يَعلَمُ ما بِالسَخلِ مِن طيبِ
The kid knows that the wolf will eat it,
The lamb knows that the wolf is its devourer,
And the wolf knows how tasty the kid is.
And the wolf knows what sweetness lies within the lamb.
