أَصبَحتُI have become مُحتاجاًin need إِلىof ضَربِa beating
أَصبَحتُ مُحتاجاً إِلى ضَربِ
إِذfor أَطلُبُI seek الرِزقَsustenance إِلىfrom كَلبِa dog
إِذ أَطلُبُ الرِزقَ إِلى كَلبِ
I have come to need a beating,
I have surely become in need of a beating,
For I seek sustenance from a dog,
When I seek my sustenance from a dog,
إِلىfrom اِمرِئٍa man يُطعِنُcasts aspersions فيon دينِهِhis faith
إِلى اِمرِئٍ يُطعِنُ في دينِهِ
يُورِقُsprouts leaves مِنهُfrom him خَشَبُwood الصَلبِthe cross
يُورِقُ مِنهُ خَشَبُ الصَلبِ
From a man who casts aspersions on his faith,
From a man whose religion is impugned,
From whom the wood of the cross sprouts leaves.
From whom the wood of the cross sprouts leaves.
