And one whose soul is bare of the robes of faults
My bare soul free of faults' adornment
He whose soul is stripped of the robes of defects,
Came forth in the garb of a pampered charmer.
Dawns in a tempting youth's garment
Appeared in the raiment of a captivating, pampered youth.
تَفَرَّدَhe was peerless بِالجَمالِin beauty وَقالَand he said هَذاthis
مِنَof الدُنياthe world وَلَذَّتِهاand its pleasure نَصيبيmy share
He was peerless in beauty and said, “This
Basking alone in beauty, saying: "This
Unique in his beauty, he declared: "This
Is my share of the world and its pleasure.”
Is my share of the world and its pleasure."
Is my portion of the world and its pleasures."
بَراهُfashioned him اللَهُGod حينَwhen بَراHe fashioned هِلالاًa crescent moon
وَخَفَّفَand lightened عَنهُfor him مُنقَطِعُthe severed end of القَضيبِthe branch
God fashioned him when He fashioned a crescent moon,
God showed him as a new moon one night
God created him when He created a crescent moon,
And the branch’s severed end lightened him.
When the broken clouds began to shift
And made him slender as a severed bough,
فَيَهتَزُّso it sways الهِلالُthe crescent عَلىupon قَضيبٍa slender branch
وَيَهتَزُّand it sways القَضيبُthe branch عَلىupon كَثيبِa sand dune
So the crescent sways upon a slender branch,
So the new moon rocks on a rod
So the crescent moon sways upon a branch,
And the branch sways upon a sand dune.
And the rod rocks on a dune.
And the branch sways upon a sand dune.
