Al-Amin arose by God's command among humankind,

and welcomed kingship at the first coming of fruit.

For the birds tell us—and the birds speak truly—

of a pleasant life and a long lifespan.

So he will rule the earth for the longest span a hand can count,

until he creeps along, his voice and sight grown feeble.

Indeed, God has adorned our world and made it beautiful

with the son of him who intercedes with the All-Merciful for rain.

And the earth grew more spacious when he governed it,

until the light of the sun and moon doubled.
