    I would be a ransom for him in whom charm and refinement are complete,

    And who grows proud when rapture touches him.

    Never did my gaze fly to take in his form

    Without anguish at its beauty taking hold of me.

    مِن نورِ خَدَّيهِ ماءُ الحُسنِ يَنسَكِبُ

    And his hips are set in a slender stem, above which is a moon;

    From the light of his cheeks, the water of beauty pours forth.

    My soul be your ransom, O you of whom I do not speak openly.

    You are bound to me by a cord that will not be severed.

    How many an hour with you have angels recorded!

    I glory over others in the sin they wrote down.
