إِنَّindeed الخِلافَةَthe caliphate لَمnot تَزَلcease
إِنَّ الخِلافَةَ لَم تَزَل
تَزهوglories وَتَفخَرُand boasts بِالأَمينِin al-Amin
تَزهو وَتَفخَرُ بِالأَمينِ
Indeed, the caliphate has never ceased
Verily, the Caliphate has never ceased
to glory and boast in al-Amin,
To flourish and take pride in Al-Amin;
وَتَحِنُّand yearns مِنfrom شَوقٍlonging إِلَيto
وَتَحِنُّ مِن شَوقٍ إِلَي
هِhim حَنينَwith the yearning of دائِمَةِone constant in الحَنينِyearning
هِ حَنينَ دائِمَةِ الحَنينِ
and yearns, out of longing, toward
And it yearns for him with the longing
him, with the yearning of one who always yearns.
Of one whose yearning is unceasing.
بَدرُthe full moon of الأَنامِhumankind مُحَمَّدٌMuhammad
بَدرُ الأَنامِ مُحَمَّدٌ
أَخَذَtook المَكارِمَnoble virtues بِاليَمينِwith the right hand
أَخَذَ المَكارِمَ بِاليَمينِ
Muhammad, the full moon of humankind,
Muhammad, the Full Moon of all mankind,
has grasped noble virtues with his right hand.
Who has seized all virtues with his right hand;
وَاِبنُand the son of الخَلائِفِthe caliphs وَالَّذيand the one who
وَاِبنُ الخَلائِفِ وَالَّذي
سَبَقَتtook the lead بِهِthrough him طيبُthe sweetness of الغُصونِthe boughs
سَبَقَت بِهِ طيبُ الغُصونِ
And the son of caliphs, and the one
The son of Caliphs, he through whom
through whom the boughs' sweetness took the lead.
The goodness of the noble branches has excelled.
جاءَتshe came بِهِwith him اِبنَةُthe daughter of جَعفَرٍJa'far
جاءَت بِهِ اِبنَةُ جَعفَرٍ
قَمَراًa moon جَلاdispelled ظُلَمَthe darkness of الدُجونِclouded skies
قَمَراً جَلا ظُلَمَ الدُجونِ
The daughter of Ja'far brought him forth,
The daughter of Ja'far brought him forth,
a moon that dispelled the darkness of clouded skies.
A moon dispelling the shadows of the gloom.
مَهدِيَّةٌa rightly guided woman خَيرُthe best of النِساthe women (word continues)
مَهدِيَّةٌ خَيرُ النِسا
ءِcompletion of 'women' كَذاlikewise اِبنُهاher son خَيرُthe best of البَنينِthe sons
ءِ كَذا اِبنُها خَيرُ البَنينِ
A rightly guided woman, the best of women;
Of Mahdi's line, she is the best of women,
likewise, her son is the best of sons.
Just as her son is the best of sons.
فَاللَهُso God يُبقيهِmay preserve him وَيُبand may He preserve (verb begins)
فَاللَهُ يُبقيهِ وَيُب
قيهاher (completing 'preserve her') لَناfor us حِقَبَlong spans of السِنينِyears
قيها لَنا حِقَبَ السِنينِ
So may God preserve him and preserve
So may God preserve him, and preserve
her for us through long spans of years.
Her for our sake, through epochs of years.
