إِنif دامَcontinues إِفلاسيmy pennilessness عَلىas ماwhat أَرىI see
إِن دامَ إِفلاسي عَلى ما أَرى
هَجَرتُI will forsake إِخوانيmy brothers وَأَصحابيand my friends
هَجَرتُ إِخواني وَأَصحابي
If my pennilessness continues as I see it,
If my bankruptcy continues as I see it now,
I will forsake my brothers and my friends,
I shall abandon my brothers and my friends,
وَبُعتُand I will sell أَثوابيmy clothes وَإِنand if بِعتُهاI sell them
وَبُعتُ أَثوابي وَإِن بِعتُها
بَقيتُI will remain بَينَbetween الدارِthe house وَالبابِand the door
بَقيتُ بَينَ الدارِ وَالبابِ
and sell my clothes—and if I sell them,
And sell my clothes—yet if I sell them,
I will remain between the house and the door.
I shall remain stranded between the house and the door.
