Why not, when you were desired for the freshness of your face,

tender in youth, with little hair upon your cheek?

But today, now that a beard has sprouted on your face,

it has carried off your charm, filling the palm that grasps it.

Like choice wine: the wine from its juice has turned,

after its deliciousness, into sour wine vinegar.
