Say to the one who weeps over a faded trace,

Standing—what harm would it have done had he sat down?

Leave the dwelling site and Salma aside,

And drink at dawn a wine from Karkh, like a firebrand.

A daughter of time, abandoned in her wine jar,

And she cast off every mote and impurity.

Like blood from within the body—when she is tasted

By a drinker, he knits his brows at her and frowns.
