Abu Bishr gave me a draught of wine.
My friend Abu Bishr gave me a draft
Abu Bishr poured for me a draught of wine,
It held a pleasure I had never tasted in any drink.
Of wine whose taste I'd never known before.
With a distinct delight I have never found in any drink;

And they had not cooked it—save that their servant
No hands but those of a fair teenage lad
They did not cook it by fire, save that their servant boy
walked about its vineyard with a torch.
Distilled this draught from the vine's inmost core.
Walked through the vineyard's bounds carrying a flame.
