إِنَّ لي حُرمَةً فَلَو رُعِيَت لي

إِنَّ لي حُرمَةً فَلَو رُعِيَت لي

لا جِوارٌ وَلا أَقولُ قَرابَه

لا جِوارٌ وَلا أَقولُ قَرابَه

I have a claim to respect—if only it were honored for me!

I have a sanctity, if it were kept for me

I hold a sacred bond—if only it were kept for me—

Not through neighborly ties, nor do I claim kinship,

No neighbors, nor do I say kinship

Neither of neighborhood, nor, I say, of kinship,

غَيرَ أَنّي سَمِيُّ وَجهِكِ لَم أَخـ

غَيرَ أَنّي سَمِيُّ وَجهِكِ لَم أَخـ

ـرِمهُ في اللَفظِ وَالهِجا وَالكِتابَه

ـرِمهُ في اللَفظِ وَالهِجا وَالكِتابَه

Except that I am your face’s namesake; I have not

Except that I named your face, I did not

But that I am the namesake of your face, flawless

Altered it in pronunciation, spelling, or writing.

Prohibit it in speech, language or writing

In every way: in speech, in spelling, and in script.

فَإِذا ما دُعيتُ غَيرَ مُكَنّى

فَإِذا ما دُعيتُ غَيرَ مُكَنّى

لَم أُقَصِّر حِفظاً لَهُ في الإِجابَه

لَم أُقَصِّر حِفظاً لَهُ في الإِجابَه

And whenever I am called, not by a kunya,

So if I am called without a nickname

So when I am summoned by my name, and not by title,

I do not fail to answer, out of regard for it.

I do not fall short in keeping it in the answer

I hasten to respond, upholding its esteem.

اِكتُبي وَاِنظُري إِلى شَبَهِ الأَحـ

You shall find my name rests on the name of your face,

Escaped this from that the eye of precision

Striking the very center of the mark of truth.
