And an aged wine whose radiance

Gleams in the cup like a blaze.

As though it were a shining star,

And the full moon on its night of fullness.

If one day it were brought near in the darkness,

The deep gloom would surely recede from it.

    It gives its drinkers joy,

So they are not frightened by worry.

    It smiles, revealing scattered pearls,

Which water has gathered into a string.

Never have I tasted it without whispering

Words to the cup in its presence.
