أتى عبدك الخطاء جهلاً وغرة

أتى عبدك الخطاء جهلاً وغرة

من الذنب يا تواب كل عظيمة

من الذنب يا تواب كل عظيمة

Your oft-erring servant has committed, in ignorance and heedlessness,

Your erring servant came in ignorance and folly

every enormity of sin, O Accepter of Repentance.

With major sin, O Forgiver of every enormity

وتوبك بالتيسير للتوب شافعي

وتوبك بالتيسير للتوب شافعي

بأنك يا تواب قبال توبتي

بأنك يا تواب قبال توبتي

And Your turning in mercy, by easing repentance, is my intercessor,

And Your forgiveness in facilitating repentance intercedes for me

for You, O Accepter of Repentance, readily accept my repentance.

That You, O Forgiver, accept my repentance

تتوب بتوفيق المتاب لمن عصى

تتوب بتوفيق المتاب لمن عصى

ليخرج من خذلانه في الخطيئة

ليخرج من خذلانه في الخطيئة

You turn in mercy, enabling repentance for whoever disobeys,

You forgive with enabling the penitent one who disobeyed

so that he may escape being forsaken in sin.

To emerge from his disgrace in sin

وتوبك بالاحسان للعبد مطلقاً

وتوبك بالاحسان للعبد مطلقاً

جميل اقتدار وامتنان الوهة

جميل اقتدار وامتنان الوهة

And Your turning in mercy, in unrestricted kindness to the servant,

And Your forgiveness is absolute benevolence to the servant

is a gracious exercise of power and divine beneficence.

Beautiful omnipotence and favor of divinity

تجاوزت يا تواب طوري ولم أدع

تجاوزت يا تواب طوري ولم أدع

سوى الشرك ذنباً لم تقارفه خيرتي

سوى الشرك ذنباً لم تقارفه خيرتي

I have overstepped my bounds, O Accepter of Repentance, and have not left

You have pardoned, O Forgiver, my misconduct, though I have not invoked

any sin, save ascribing partners to You, that I have not freely committed.

Anything but polytheism, a sin my virtue did not perpetrate

فلم تقطع الاحسان والكرم الذي

فلم تقطع الاحسان والكرم الذي

يليق بمجد اللّه من كل جهة

يليق بمجد اللّه من كل جهة

Yet You have not cut off the goodness and generosity that

So You did not cease benevolence and generosity

befit God's glory in every respect.

That befits the glory of God in every way

ولم تغلق الأسباب دوني تأنياً

ولم تغلق الأسباب دوني تأنياً

ولطفاً وتوفيقاً لتحقيق توبتي

ولطفاً وتوفيقاً لتحقيق توبتي

Nor have You closed the ways before me, out of forbearance,

Nor close off means before me, gently

and kindness, and to enable the fulfillment of my repentance.

And kindly and enabling the realization of my repentance

وفي كل هذا لا أزائل سوءة

وفي كل هذا لا أزائل سوءة

ولا أتقي ما فيه ويلي وشقوتي

ولا أتقي ما فيه ويلي وشقوتي

And amid all this, I do not forsake any shameful deed,

And in all this, I do not cease from evil

nor guard against what holds my woe and misery.

Nor avoid that which spells my doom and misery

وذاك على علمي بأني راجع

وذاك على علمي بأني راجع

إلى كبرياء لا تضيق بعثرتي

إلى كبرياء لا تضيق بعثرتي

And all this while I know that I shall return

And that is with my knowledge that I will return

to a Majesty not straitened by my stumble.

To arrogance that does not constrain my prodigality

إلى الويل يا تواب إن فاتني الرضا

إلى الويل يا تواب إن فاتني الرضا

وتوبك يا تواب يا رب عصمتي

وتوبك يا تواب يا رب عصمتي

To woe I go, O Accepter of Repentance, if Your approval eludes me.

To ruin, O Forgiver, if Your pleasure escapes me

And Your turning in mercy, O Accepter of Repentance, O Lord, is my protection.

And Your forgiveness, O Lord, is my safeguard

الهي تداركني بتثبيت توبة

الهي تداركني بتثبيت توبة

نصوح وكون حلية التوب حليتي

نصوح وكون حلية التوب حليتي

My God, come to my aid by making firm a repentance

My God, save me by making repentance sincere

that is sincere, and make repentance's adornment my adornment.

And make the adornment of repentance my adornment
