عُبَيدكَ يا تواب جاءك عائذاً

تحمل ذنباً فاعف عما تحملا

تحمل ذنباً فاعف عما تحملا

Your lowly servant, O Acceptor of repentance, has come to You seeking refuge.

Your servant has come to you seeking refuge, O Acceptor of repentance

He has burdened himself with sin; pardon what he has borne.

Bearing sins, so pardon what he bears

وجد بمتاب يا عفو ورحمة

وجد بمتاب يا عفو ورحمة

على عبد سوء طالما عنك اغفلا

على عبد سوء طالما عنك اغفلا

And bestow repentance and mercy, O Pardoner,

He found in turning to You, O Pardon and Mercy

upon a sinful servant who has long been heedless of You.

A worshipper of evil who long neglected You

ببابك يدعو يا بصيراً بحاله

ببابك يدعو يا بصيراً بحاله

فاوسع له يا واسع الفضل مجزلا

فاوسع له يا واسع الفضل مجزلا

At Your door he prays, O You who see his condition;

At Your door he prays, O All-Seeing of his state

so give him generously and lavishly, O You of boundless bounty.

So be magnanimous to him, O Most Generous

أتيت ذنوباً يا غفور فكن لها

أتيت ذنوباً يا غفور فكن لها

وقد تبت منها يا حليم مبدلا

وقد تبت منها يا حليم مبدلا

I have committed sins, O All-Forgiving; so may You,

I came with sins, O Forgiver, so forgive them

now that I have repented of them, O Forbearing One, transform them.

Now that I have repented of them, O Forbearing Changer

تعرضت وهناً يا رؤوف لرأفة

تعرضت وهناً يا رؤوف لرأفة

تجود بها يا شاكراً متقبلا

تجود بها يا شاكراً متقبلا

In weakness I have sought, O Compassionate One, the compassion

I exposed weakness, O Merciful, seeking mercy

You generously bestow, O Appreciative, Accepting One.

That You may grant, O Thankful Acceptor

وإن أوحشتني يا الهي خطيئتي

وإن أوحشتني يا الهي خطيئتي

فأنس رجائي فيك يا واحد انجلى

فأنس رجائي فيك يا واحد انجلى

And though my sin has left me desolate, O my God,

Though my sin has made me lonely, O my God

the solace of my hope in You, O One, has shone forth.

My hope in You consoles me, O One, shine through

فكن راضياً لي يا شكور تنسكي

فكن راضياً لي يا شكور تنسكي

فطوبى لمن تولي الرضا والتقبلا

فطوبى لمن تولي الرضا والتقبلا

So be pleased with my devotion, O Most Appreciative;

Be pleased with me, O Grateful, for my devotion

blessed is the one to whom You grant Your pleasure and acceptance.

Blessed is he who finds acceptance and approval

وزدني خضوعاً فيك يا متكبراً

وزدني خضوعاً فيك يا متكبراً

إذا حط قدري الناس أعلاه فاعتلى

إذا حط قدري الناس أعلاه فاعتلى

And increase my humility before You, O Supremely Great One;

And increase my humility in You, O Proud One

when people lower my standing, humility lifts it, and it rises high.

When people debase me, rise above, transcend

ويا غافر الذنب اغفر الذنب والخطا

ويا غافر الذنب اغفر الذنب والخطا

وإن كان وزراً يقصم الظهر مثقلا

وإن كان وزراً يقصم الظهر مثقلا

And, O Forgiver of sin, forgive sin and error,

O Forgiver of sins, forgive sin and error

even if it is a heavy burden that breaks the back.

Though it be a burden that weighs heavy on the back

ويا قابل التوب اقبل التوبة التي

ويا قابل التوب اقبل التوبة التي

أتاك بها عبد جنى فتنصلا

أتاك بها عبد جنى فتنصلا

And, O Acceptor of repentance, accept the repentance

O Accepter of repentance, accept the repentance

brought to You by a servant who sinned, then sought absolution.

That Your servant has brought, repenting

وهذا مرامي يا كريم ومقصدي

وهذا مرامي يا كريم ومقصدي

وما خاب من أم الكريم وأملا

وما خاب من أم الكريم وأملا

And this is my aim, O Generous One, and my purpose.

This is my wish, O Generous, and my aim

And none who sought the Generous One and hoped has been disappointed.

And none who hoped in the Generous has despaired
