Self-sufficiency necessarily belongs to the One self-sufficient in Himself.

Self-sufficiency necessarily belongs to the Self-Sufficient One by His very essence.

Holy is He, beyond deficiency and all contingency.

He is exalted beyond deficiency and accidental qualities.

غناك قديم في الصفات وذاتك ال

غناك قديم في الصفات وذاتك ال

جليل وفي أفعالك القدسية

جليل وفي أفعالك القدسية

Your sufficiency is eternal in Your attributes and Your Essence—the

Your self-sufficiency is eternal in Your attributes and Your essence—

Majestic—and in Your holy acts.

غني غناه مطلق واجب البقا

غني غناه مطلق واجب البقا

وكل قيود الفقر للحدثية

وكل قيود الفقر للحدثية

Self-Sufficient, His sufficiency absolute, necessarily everlasting;

He is self-sufficient; His self-sufficiency is absolute and necessarily enduring.

all bonds of poverty belong to created existence.

And all the bonds of need belong to created existence.

غني غناه لا يحول بمانع

غني غناه لا يحول بمانع

وما فوقه مغن ولا تحت علة

وما فوقه مغن ولا تحت علة

Self-Sufficient—His sufficiency no obstacle can impede;

He is self-sufficient; no obstacle can alter His self-sufficiency.

none above Him enriches Him, nor does any cause underlie Him.

And none above Him grants Him sufficiency, nor is He subject to a cause.

غني تجلى بالغنى في شؤونه

غني تجلى بالغنى في شؤونه

غناء حقيقياً عن المكنية

غناء حقيقياً عن المكنية

Self-Sufficient, He manifests in His affairs through sufficiency—

He is self-sufficient, manifesting His self-sufficiency in His affairs,

a true independence from what is designated metonymically.

A true independence from contingent existence.

غني غناه لا يحول بمانع

غني غناه لا يحول بمانع

لا يتخطاه افتقار الخليقة

لا يتخطاه افتقار الخليقة

Self-Sufficient—His sufficiency no obstacle can impede;

He is self-sufficient; no obstacle can alter His self-sufficiency.

creation’s dependence cannot reach beyond Him.

Creation's need never passes beyond Him.

غني غناه لا يبيد بمنتهى

غني غناه لا يبيد بمنتهى

ولم يتعلق عز شأناً بنسبة

ولم يتعلق عز شأناً بنسبة

Self-Sufficient—His sufficiency never perishes at any limit,

He is self-sufficient; no endpoint can extinguish His self-sufficiency.

nor does it depend—exalted in station—upon any relation.

And, exalted in rank, He has never depended upon any relation.

الهي غني الأغنياء ممدهم

ملكت افتقاري يا مليك وغنيتي

ملكت افتقاري يا مليك وغنيتي

My God, Richest of the rich, their Sustainer,

My God, Richest of the rich, their sustainer,

You possess my need, O Sovereign, and my sufficiency.

افض لي غني الأغنياء غناية

بفضلك يا ذا الرحمة الأوسعية

بفضلك يا ذا الرحمة الأوسعية

Pour out sufficiency upon me, O Richest of the rich,

Pour out sufficiency for me, O Richest of the rich,

by Your grace, Possessor of all-embracing mercy.

Through Your bounty, O Possessor of the most expansive mercy.

الهي غناء العبد بالحق لا سوى

الهي غناء العبد بالحق لا سوى

هنا انتصبت بالفقر أيدي البرية

هنا انتصبت بالفقر أيدي البرية

My God, the servant’s sufficiency is through the Real alone.

My God, the servant's sufficiency is through the Truth alone.

Here, in poverty, all creation’s hands are outstretched.

Here the hands of creation are raised in need.

واغناؤك الفاقات ليس يحيلها

واغناؤك الفاقات ليس يحيلها

إلى مركز عن فقرها بالضرورة

إلى مركز عن فقرها بالضرورة

Your satisfying of needs does not transform them

And Your satisfying needs does not move them

into a fixed state necessarily beyond their poverty.

To a state beyond their necessary dependence.
