على المعرج الأسنى من الذِّكر عوّلا

فاشراق شمس السر فيه تهللا

On the loftiest ascent of remembrance, place your reliance;

Rely on the loftiest ascent of remembrance.

there the sun of the secret shone forth in radiant splendor.

For the radiance of the sun of mystery shines joyfully within it.

وما هو إلا ذكر أسماء ربنا

وما هو إلا ذكر أسماء ربنا

تعالى ولكن كن على الشرط أولا

It is nothing but the invocation of our Lord’s Names—

And it is nothing but remembrance of our Lord's names,

the Exalted—but first observe the conditions.

Exalted is He—but first abide by the condition.

فأوله التطهير للقلب من أذى المعا

فأوله التطهير للقلب من أذى المعا

صي وثانيه التفرد في الخلا

The first is cleansing the heart of the harm of transgres—

ورابعه استقبالك البيت في الدعا

وخامسه كون الوضوء مكملا

The fourth is facing the Sacred House in supplication;

And its fourth is your facing the House in supplication.

the fifth is being in a state of complete ablution.

And its fifth is that ablution be fully performed.

وسادسه صوم الخميس محبب

وسادسه صوم الخميس محبب

وفي سحر الزهراء لذكر فاعملا

وفي سحر الزهراء لذكر فاعملا

The sixth is the commendable fast of Thursday;

And its sixth is fasting on Thursday, a favored practice.

and at the pre-dawn of al-Zahrāʾ—the Radiant—practice the invocation.

And in al-Zahra's predawn hours, apply yourself to remembrance.

وفيها على حسب التصاريف أصلت

شروط وذا حسب التبرك أصلا

For it, according to its various applications, have been established

تنل سرها المخزون في بحر نورها

بتكميل مشروط وإن لم يكن فلا

You will attain its secret, treasured in the ocean of its light,

by fulfilling what is stipulated; if that is not done, then no.

فمن يفتح الفتاح من سرها له

فمن يفتح الفتاح من سرها له

يكن ملكاً في العالمين مبجلا

يكن ملكاً في العالمين مبجلا

For whomever al-Fattāḥ, the Opener, admits to something of its secret

For anyone to whom the Opener opens some of their secret

will become a sovereign, honored throughout the worlds.

فعول عليها في المهمات داعيا

بياء الندا مستهديا متوكلا

So rely upon it in grave affairs, invoking

with yā, the vocative call, seeking guidance and trusting.
