الهي الحق لم أشهد سوى الله — Abu Muslim Al Bahlani

الهيَ الحق لم أشهد سوى اللّه

ولا إله على حق سوى اللّه

My true God, I have witnessed none but God.

And there is no true deity except God.

الهي الحق وحدانية سبقت

الوهة وجبت للواحد اللّه

My true God: oneness came first;

divinity is necessarily due to the One, God.

الهي الحق ليس الأمر مشتركاً

بل أنت أنت وجلت وحدة اللّه

My true God, authority is not shared;

rather, You are You; exalted is God's unity.

الهي الحق لا ند ولا ضدد

ولا نظير ولا أمثال للّه

My true God, there is no rival and no opposite,

and no counterpart, and no equals to God.

الهي الحق لا بدء ولا أمد

البدء والانتها صنعان للّه

My true God, there is no beginning and no end;

beginning and ending are two works of God.

الهي الحق ذات غايرت عرضاً

وجوهراً والكمال المحض للّه

My true God: an essence distinct from accident

and substance; pure perfection belongs to God.

الهي الحق ملك لا شريك به

حال الشريك وحق الملك للّه

My true God: dominion with no partner in it;

a partner is impossible; the right of dominion belongs to God.

الهي الحق أمر لا تنازعه

الأمر للّه والتدبير للّه

My true God: command beyond dispute;

command belongs to God, and governance belongs to God.

الهي الحق حكم لا مرد له

الحكم للّه والتصريف للّه

My true God: judgment that cannot be reversed;

judgment belongs to God, and the ordering of affairs belongs to God.

الهي الحق عز قاهر أبداً

وقدرة ظهرت في صنعة اللّه

My true God: might forever all-subduing,

and power made manifest in God's handiwork.

الهي الحق مجد لا حسور له

مجد الألوهة والسلطان للّه

My true God: glory that never wanes;

divinity's glory and sovereignty belong to God.

الهي الحق علم لا حدوث له

الشيء في عدم والعلم للّه

My true God: knowledge without beginning;

a thing is nonexistent, yet knowledge belongs to God.

الهي الحق ايجاد بلا سبب

وحكمة حجبتها حيطة اللّه

My true God: bringing into being without a cause,

and wisdom veiled by God's all-encompassing knowledge.

الهي الحق قيومية كنفت

خليقة قهرتها قبضة اللّه

My true God: all-sustaining power that has enfolded

a creation subdued by God's grasp.

الهي الحق حول ماله حول

وقوة لا تسامي قوة اللّه

My true God: power that knows no change,

and strength—God's strength cannot be rivaled.

الهي الحق ما قهر بمعترض

ولا محال بمرهون من اللّه

My true God, Your subduing power cannot be opposed,

nor is the impossible pledged by God.

الهي الحق ما أمر بملتبس

على الحقيقة آيات من اللّه

My true God, no decree is ambiguous;

in truth, these are signs from God.

الهي الحق ذا الشأن العظيم شؤو

ن الق دانت لوحدانية اللّه

My true God, Lord of mighty station: the affairs

of [unclear text] have submitted to God's oneness.

الهي الحق شأن لا حدود له

شأن الجلال وشأن الكبر للّه

My true God: a dignity without bounds;

the dignity of majesty and the dignity of greatness belong to God.

الهي الحق فردانية ولهت

ذلاً وفقراً إليها فطرة اللّه

My true God: a uniqueness for which there yearns,

in humility and need, the innate nature fashioned by God.

الهي الحق ذرات الوجود بها

شواهد الصنع والتكوين للّه

My true God, within existence's particles

are witnesses to God's making and bringing into being.

الهي الحق بالآثار مبصرة

من اليقين على التأثير للّه

My true God, through the effects comes clear insight,

born of certainty, into God's agency.

الهي الحق اقدار وأقضية

من مصدر واحد من حكمة اللّه

My true God: destinies and decrees

from a single source, from God's wisdom.

الهي الحق ذا الابداع منتظم

على كمالاته من وحدة اللّه

My true God, this wondrous creation is ordered

in all its perfections, through God's unity.

الهي الحق لو شوركت لاختلفت

تلك الارادات بين الشرك باللّه

My true God, had You a partner, there would differ

those wills within the partnership ascribed to God.

الهي الحق سلطان بلا غرض

يقضي عليه وجلت حجة اللّه

My true God: sovereignty bound by no aim

that might govern it; exalted is God's proof.

الهي الحق متروك الارادة وال

مختار ايجاده حكمان للّه

My true God: what the will leaves aside and what is

chosen to be brought into being are two decrees of God.

الهي الحق تقضي ما تشاء ولا

يقضي بشيء من الأشيا على اللّه

My true God, You decree whatever You will, and no

decree concerning anything can be imposed upon God.

الهي الحق ما أوجدت من حدث

إلا عليه سمات الذل للّه

My true God, You have brought no created thing into being

but it bears the marks of lowliness before God.

الهي الحق حال الأين مثل متى

والكيف والكم عن وصفية اللّه

My true God, 'where,' like 'when,' is excluded,

as are 'how' and 'how much,' from describing God.

الهي الحق فرد واحد أحد

في الذات والفعل والأوصاف للّه

My true God: singular, One, uniquely One;

in essence, act, and attributes, such oneness belongs to God.

الهي الحق حي أول صمد

كذاك كنت ولا أزمان للّه

My true God: Living, First, Self-Sufficient;

thus You have ever been; no ages pertain to God.

الهي الحق لم تولد ولم تلد ال

أشياء خلق ولا اكفاء للّه

My true God, You were not begotten, nor did You beget; the

things are creations, and God has no equals.

الهي الحق قيوم بما خلقت

يداك حفظاً وتدبيراً من اللّه

My true God: Sustainer of what was created

by Your two hands, in safekeeping and governance from God.

الهي الحق لا نوم ولا سنة

إن النقائص لا تفضى على اللّه

My true God, there is no sleep and no drowsiness;

indeed, imperfections do not befall God.

الهي الحق لام الملك جامعة

ما غادرت ثقل ذر ليس للّه

My true God, the possessive lām encompasses all;

it leaves not a mote's weight that does not belong to God.

الهي الحق أهل الكبرياء فمن

هو الشفيع بلا اذن من اللّه

My true God, worthy of majesty—who, then,

is the intercessor without permission from God?

الهي الحق ذا العلم المحيط وعن

مشيئة ما علمناه من اللّه

My true God, Possessor of all-encompassing knowledge; and by

Your will comes what we have learned from God.

الهي الحق من كرسيه وسع ال

سماء والأرض في حفظ من اللّه

My true God, whose Seat encompasses the

sky and earth, in God's safekeeping.

الهي الحق لا تحوي علوك أو

هام ولا العظم المنسوب للّه

My true God, no imaginings encompass Your exaltedness,

nor the greatness ascribed to God.

الهي الحق ملك ما له وزر

من مالك الملك إلا رحمة اللّه

My true God, a king has no refuge

from the Owner of dominion except God's mercy.

الهي الحق تؤتيه وتنزعه

والعز والذل في المخلوق للّه

My true God, You bestow it and withdraw it;

and honor and abasement among creatures are God's to decree.

الهي الحق ايلاج النهار بلي

ل من إله به يأتي سوى اللّه

My true God: the merging of day into night—

what god brings it about except God?

الهي الحق اخراج الحياة من ال

سمات والعكس هل إلا من اللّه

My true God: bringing life forth from the

marks [unclear in context], and the reverse—is it from any but God?

الهي الحق أرزاق بغير حسا

ب من يوفيها فضلاً سوى اللّه

My true God: provisions beyond reckoning—

who bestows them fully, as bounty, except God?

الهي الحق آجال مقدرة

هل المقادير إلا في يد اللّه

My true God: lifespans ordained;

are the decrees anywhere but in God's hand?

الهي الحق تقدير وتقدمة

تجري بحكم خفايا حكمة اللّه

My true God: ordainment and advancement

proceed according to the mysteries of God's wisdom.

الهي الحق أسباب مسببة

بلا ازدياد ولا نقص من اللّه

My true God: causes themselves caused,

from God, without increase or decrease.

الهي الحق حاطت منك هيمنة

فالسر والغيب كالاعلان للّه

My true God, Your overseeing dominion has encompassed all;

so secrets and the unseen are as the manifest to God.

الهي الحق مني الروح قائمة

والسر والقلب بالتوحيد للّه

My true God, the spirit within me stands steadfast,

with my inmost self and heart, affirming God's oneness.

الهي الحق ايماني ومعرفتي

في عالم الذكر اكرام من اللّه

My true God, my faith and my knowledge

in the realm of remembrance are a gracious gift from God.

الهي الحق أخلصني مخالصة

باللّه في اللّه عند اللّه اللّه

My true God, purify me with wholehearted sincerity,

through God, in God, in God's presence—God!

الهي الحق نورني بمعرفة

وهب لي القرب بالعرفان للّه

My true God, illumine me with knowledge,

and grant me nearness through knowing God.

الهي الحق أخلصني باسمك من

اسمي وخذني إلى الاخلاص للّه

My true God, free me, by Your name, from

my name, and take me into pure devotion to God.

الهي الحق لي نفس علمت بها

أشكو جبلتها السؤى إلى اللّه

My true God, I have a soul that You know;

I complain of its evil disposition to God.

الهي الحق تدعوها لتصلحها

فتنزوي للهوى عن طاعة اللّه

My true God, You call it to set it right,

but it shrinks toward desire, away from obedience to God.

الهي الحق صدتها علائقها

وأقعدتها طواياها عن اللّه

My true God, its attachments have hindered it,

and its hidden inclinations have held it back from God.

الهي الحق محصها مقدسة

من كل شائبة تقصى عن اللّه

My true God, purify it, making it holy,

from every blemish that estranges it from God.

الهي الحق عزتني سياستها

إلا إذا وفقتني نظرة اللّه

My true God, governing it has defeated me,

unless a glance from God grants me success.

الهي الحق لي ذنب تعاظمني

وليس يعظم من شيء على اللّه

My true God, I have a sin that seems immense to me,

yet nothing is too great for God.

الهي الحق ويلي حيث تقذفني

في هوة المقت مطروداً عن اللّه

My true God, woe to me when You hurl me

into the abyss of loathing, banished from God.

الهي الحق أدركني بمغفرة

ورحمة وادم لي عصمة اللّه

My true God, rescue me with forgiveness

and mercy, and let God's protection remain with me.

الهي الحق أسعدني وصل على

محمد مددي مع خيرة اللّه

My true God, grant me happiness, and send blessings upon

Muhammad, my support, together with God's chosen ones.
