الهيَ بالانعام أنت ابتدأتنا

الهيَ بالانعام أنت ابتدأتنا

وذاك ودود الخلق عين المودة

وذاك ودود الخلق عين المودة

My God, You first bestowed Your favors upon us,

O God, with blessings You initiated us,

and that, O Lover of creation, is love itself.

And that affectionate nature is the essence of love.

تحببت بالعرفان للأولياء في

تحببت بالعرفان للأولياء في

مقاماتهم واخترتهم للمحبة

مقاماتهم واخترتهم للمحبة

You endeared Yourself through spiritual knowledge to the saints in

You made yourself beloved through gratitude among saints,

their stations, and chose them for love.

In their spiritual stations, and chose them for love.

تحببت بالغفران للمذنبين يا

تحببت بالغفران للمذنبين يا

ودودو ولم تقطع رجاء لتوبة

ودودو ولم تقطع رجاء لتوبة

You endeared Yourself through forgiveness to sinners, O

You made yourself beloved through forgiveness for sinners,

Loving One, and You did not cut off hope of repentance.

O Affectionate One, and did not cut off hope for repentance.

تحببت بالأرزاق للخلق مطلقاً

تحببت بالأرزاق للخلق مطلقاً

فكان بوفق العدل قسم المعيشة

فكان بوفق العدل قسم المعيشة

You endeared Yourself through sustenance to all creation,

You made yourself beloved through sustenance for all creation,

so livelihood was apportioned in accord with justice.

So the distribution of livelihood was with justice.

وأودعت بعض الخلق وداً لبعضهم

وأودعت بعض الخلق وداً لبعضهم

وذلك من ألطاف ود الألوهة

وذلك من ألطاف ود الألوهة

And You instilled in some creatures love for others,

And You placed in some of creation affection for others,

and that is among the subtle graces of divine love.

And that is from the subtleties of divine affection.

وودك ممن تجتبيه عوارف

وودك ممن تجتبيه عوارف

تنزلها دلت لسبق المودة

تنزلها دلت لسبق المودة

And love for You from those You choose is grace

And Your affection for those You choose is mystical knowledge

You send down, attesting that love came first.

You send down, having preceded with love.

ولولا عنايات المودة والرضا

ولولا عنايات المودة والرضا

لما جاوزا في سيرهم قياد لمحة

لما جاوزا في سيرهم قياد لمحة

And were it not for the care of love and good pleasure,

And were it not for the providence of affection and pleasure,

they would not have gone beyond a glance's span on their journey.

They would not have exceeded in their journey a single step.

ومن ودك العرفان نور قذفته

ومن ودك العرفان نور قذفته

ولولاه لم يعرفك جنس الخليقة

ولولاه لم يعرفك جنس الخليقة

And from Your love comes spiritual knowledge, a light You cast;

And from Your affection is the light You radiated,

and without it, no created being would know You.

Without which no being would know You.

وودك في الألباب حظ مقسم

وودك في الألباب حظ مقسم

توصل منه كل لب لرتبة

توصل منه كل لب لرتبة

And love for You in minds is an allotted share,

And Your affection is an allotted share in intellects,

through which each mind has attained a rank.

Through which every heart attains its degree.

فهب لي بفيض الود فيك محبة

فهب لي بفيض الود فيك محبة

مجردة من أحرفي وصحيفتي

مجردة من أحرفي وصحيفتي

So grant me, through love's outpouring, a love for You

So grant me through Your overflowing affection sincere love,

free of my letters and my page.

Free of my letters and pages.

وهب لي وداً من عبادك ثابتاً

وهب لي وداً من عبادك ثابتاً

وسدد لأهل اللّه فيك محبتي

وسدد لأهل اللّه فيك محبتي

And grant me enduring love from Your servants,

Grant me lasting love among Your servants,

and guide aright my love for the people of God, for Your sake.

And direct my love for the people of God toward You.
