الهيَ لا مسموع يعزب عنك يا

الهيَ لا مسموع يعزب عنك يا

سميع بجهر كائن أو بخفية

سميع بجهر كائن أو بخفية

My God, nothing audible eludes You, O

O Allah, nothing escapes Your hearing, O All-Hearing,

All-Hearing One, whether it occurs aloud or in secret.

Whether uttered openly or in secret.

الهي سمع اللّه درك لذاته

الهي سمع اللّه درك لذاته

تجلى له مسموعه بالحقيقة

تجلى له مسموعه بالحقيقة

My God, God's hearing is perception intrinsic to His essence;

O Allah, God's hearing encompasses His essence,

what He hears is truly manifest to Him.

All that is heard is revealed to Him in reality.

الهي سمع الحق ليس بآلة

الهي سمع الحق ليس بآلة

ولا صفة بالذات قامت وحلت

ولا صفة بالذات قامت وحلت

My God, the True One's hearing is not through an instrument,

O Allah, the hearing of Truth is not an instrument,

nor an attribute that subsists and inheres in His essence.

Nor an attribute subsisting in His essence.

ولكنه علم قديم مطابق

ولكنه علم قديم مطابق

لماهية المعلوم باللازمية

لماهية المعلوم باللازمية

Rather, it is eternal knowledge, corresponding exactly

Rather, it is an eternal knowledge corresponding

to the essence of what is known, by necessity.

Necessarily to the essence of what is known.

سمعت دبيب النمل يا سامع الدعا

سمعت دبيب النمل يا سامع الدعا

على الصخرة الصماء في الحندسية

على الصخرة الصماء في الحندسية

You heard the tread of ants, O Hearer of prayer,

You heard the creeping of ants, O Hearer of supplications,

upon the solid rock in the pitch-dark night.

On the deaf rock in the wilderness.

وليس نداء عن نداء بمشغل

وليس نداء عن نداء بمشغل

لسمعك حكم الفرد فيه ككثرة

لسمعك حكم الفرد فيه ككثرة

Nor does one call distract from another;

No call distracts Your hearing, the rule of the one

to Your hearing, one and many are alike.

Is like the many to You.

سمعت لحمد الحامدين وصنتهم

سمعت لحمد الحامدين وصنتهم

بحمدك يا ذا الحمد في كل نعمة

بحمدك يا ذا الحمد في كل نعمة

You listened to the praise of those who praise, and protected them

You heard the praise of those who praise and protected them

for praising You, O You to whom praise is due for every blessing.

With Your praise, O You of praise in every blessing.

سمعت دعاء الخلق حالاً ولهجة

سمعت دعاء الخلق حالاً ولهجة

وسراً وأرواحاً بسر وجهرة

وسراً وأرواحاً بسر وجهرة

You heard creation's prayer, in state and utterance,

You heard the supplication of creation, its words

and secrets and souls, in secret and aloud.

And spirits, secretly and openly.

الهي صراخي بالدعاء سمعته

الهي صراخي بالدعاء سمعته

وليس دعاء لافتخار وسمعة

وليس دعاء لافتخار وسمعة

My God, You have heard my cry in supplication;

O Allah I cried out to You in supplication and You heard me,

and it is no prayer for boasting or renown.

Not for boasting and fame.

ولكن أحاطت بي بحور مصائب

ولكن أحاطت بي بحور مصائب

وأعظمها ذنبي وتسويف توبتي

وأعظمها ذنبي وتسويف توبتي

But seas of calamity have surrounded me,

But oceans of afflictions encompassed me,

and greatest among them are my sin and my delaying repentance.

The greatest of them my sin and delaying my repentance.

سمعت ففرجها بروح ورحمة

سمعت ففرجها بروح ورحمة

وإن لم أكن مستأهلاً للمثوبة

وإن لم أكن مستأهلاً للمثوبة

You have heard; so dispel them with relief and mercy,

You heard and relieved them with spirit and mercy

even if I am not worthy of reward.

Though I am not deserving of reward.
