الهي شهيد الكائنات شهادة

وغيبا على تفصيل كل وجملة

My God is Witness to all beings, both seen

And unseen, in every detail and as a whole.

الهي شهيد حاضر غير غائب

ترى لا ترى ما غاب مثقال ذرة

My God is Witness, present, never absent.

You see but are not seen; not an atom’s weight is hidden from You.

الهي شهيد للأمور بأسرها

كفى بك ربي شاهداً للقضية

My God is Witness to all affairs in their entirety.

You suffice, my Lord, as witness to the matter.

شهيد بوضع البينات ونصبها

على العدل والتوحيد والصفتية

A Witness through setting forth clear proofs and establishing them

For justice, oneness, and the divine attributes.

شهيد لك الموجود مولاي شاهد

مقر بأن الوحدة الأزلية

You are the Witness; all that exists, my Master, testifies to You,

Acknowledging Your eternal oneness.

شهيد على توحيد سري وعلمه

بأنك لا تخفى عليك أنيتي

A Witness to my inmost heart’s affirmation of oneness and its knowledge

That my very being is not hidden from You.

شهيد بتنوير القلوب شهوده

وايناسه الأسرار بالعارفية

A Witness whose witnessing illumines hearts,

And who comforts the inmost hearts with spiritual knowledge.

شهيد على سري ونجواي مطلقاً

بدنيا وأخرى لست عنك بخفية

A Witness to my secret and my private converse, without restriction;

In this world and the next, I am not hidden from You.

أعز جليس ما بأنسك وحشة

شهيدي وبعدي عنك أعظم وحشة

Dearest Companion, there is no loneliness in Your intimacy,

My Witness; yet my distance from You is the greatest loneliness.

بسر الشهيد ارزقني الصبر سيدي

لحكمك واجعلني شهيد عبودتي

By the mystery of the Witness, grant me patience, my Master,

Under Your decree, and make me a witness to my servitude,

لأعبدك اللهم حقاً كأنني

أراك وكل الكون من خلف رؤيتي

So that I may truly worship You, O God, as though I

See You, with the whole universe behind my gaze.
