يَهوى سواك وتهواه فهل سَفَهٌ

من ذا أشدّ وبعض الرأي تضليل

من ذا أشدّ وبعض الرأي تضليل

He loves someone other than you, yet you love him—is there any folly

He desires none but you, and you desire him, is he insane

Worse than this? And some judgment leads astray.

Who more intensely loves, though some views mislead

الحزم والصبر سيفاً كل نازلةٍ

الحزم والصبر سيفاً كل نازلةٍ

كل بحديهما لا شك مغلول

كل بحديهما لا شك مغلول

Resolve and patience are the two swords against every calamity;

Resolution and patience are the swords for every mishap

Each is, without doubt, shackled by their two edges.

With both of them, no doubt, challenges are overcome

نَزِّه هواك وخلصه لمخلصه

نَزِّه هواك وخلصه لمخلصه

إن النزاهة فوق الرأس اكليل

إن النزاهة فوق الرأس اكليل

Purify your love, and devote it wholly to one sincere in love;

Purify your love and devote it to the pure one

For purity is a crown above the head.

Indeed, integrity is a crown upon the head
