أحاط بيَ الكرب العظيم وأنت يا

أحاط بيَ الكرب العظيم وأنت يا

لطيف عظيم اللطف في حل كربتي

لطيف عظيم اللطف في حل كربتي

Great anguish has encompassed me, and You, O

Great sorrow has surrounded me, and You, O Gentle One, Full of Gentleness, solve my sorrow.

Gentle One, are immensely kind in relieving my distress.

You were gentle, but Your holiness is too lofty to grasp, in this world and the next.

لطفت فلم تدرك تقدست سيدي

لطفت فلم تدرك تقدست سيدي

عن الدرك في الدنيا وفي الاخروية

عن الدرك في الدنيا وفي الاخروية

You are subtle and cannot be perceived; exalted are You, my Lord,

You were gentle and grasped all of creation equally, whether hidden or manifest.

beyond perception in this world and the hereafter.

You were gentle and arranged all affairs purely out of goodness and mercy.

لطفت فأدركت الكوائن مطلقاً

لطفت فأدركت الكوائن مطلقاً

وسيان خافيها ودرك الجلية

وسيان خافيها ودرك الجلية

In Your subtlety You comprehend all beings without exception,

Your gentleness in Your actions is beyond counting, my Master, to all creation.

and their hidden things are as readily grasped as what is plain.

You were gentle in making easy the difficult, mending the broken, and relieving great worries.

لطفت فهيأت المصالح كلها

لطفت فهيأت المصالح كلها

بغير احتساب محض بر ورحمة

بغير احتساب محض بر ورحمة

You have shown kindness, preparing every benefit,

My God who hides gentleness, reach the hidden gentleness to Your servant who is tested.

beyond expectation, in pure goodness and mercy.

You were gently hidden from me, so You veiled me, guided me gently, and perfected Your blessing upon me.

ولطفك في أفعال ذاتك خارج

ولطفك في أفعال ذاتك خارج

عن الحصر رفقاً سيدي بالخليقة

عن الحصر رفقاً سيدي بالخليقة

And Your kindness in the acts of Your essence lies

Hardships attacked and doubt weakened my resolve.

beyond all counting; be gentle, my Lord, with creation.

Even Your slightest gentleness, O Gentle One, outweighs my afflictions, if I put them on the scales.

كسير وتفريج الهموم الجسيمة

كسير وتفريج الهموم الجسيمة

You have shown kindness by easing hardship, by Your mending of the

By the mysteries of God's gentleness in His dominion and kingdom, O Gentle One, be gentle with my stumbling.

broken one, and by dispelling grievous cares.

الهي خفي اللطف أدرك بلطفك ال

الهي خفي اللطف أدرك بلطفك ال

خفي بليات بعبدك حلت

خفي بليات بعبدك حلت

My God, whose kindness is hidden, remedy through Your

hidden kindness the afflictions that have befallen Your servant.

ووفقتني لطفاً وأتممت نعمتي

ووفقتني لطفاً وأتممت نعمتي

You were kind to me, O You of hidden kindness, and sheltered me,

and graciously granted me success and made my blessing complete.

تواردت الأسواء واستحصد الشقا

تواردت الأسواء واستحصد الشقا

علي وخامت دون صبري عزيمتي

علي وخامت دون صبري عزيمتي

Misfortunes came in succession, and misery ripened fully

upon me, and my resolve fell short of patient endurance.

ولطفك أدنى يا لطيف من البلا

ولطفك أدنى يا لطيف من البلا

ولو رجحت بالخافقين بليتي

ولو رجحت بالخافقين بليتي

Yet Your kindness is nearer, O Gentle One, than affliction,

even if my trial outweighed the East and West.

بأسرار لطف اللّه في ملكوته

بأسرار لطف اللّه في ملكوته

وفي ملكه ألطف يا لطيف بعرجتي

وفي ملكه ألطف يا لطيف بعرجتي

By the mysteries of God's kindness in His dominion

and in His kingdom, be gentle, O Gentle One, with my limping gait.
