And O You, powerful by Your very essence, not through something distinct,

eternal, inhering in the essence and called 'power.'

You have power without positing for power a meaning

distinct in meaning from the negation of incapacity.

And none of God's attributes is an addition,

and accepting added attributes is the very admission of dependence.

You have power over things, without stipulation,

with possibility of coming into being as their qualification.

Nor does the impossibility of negation stem from power's opposite,

but the marks of incapacity belong to impossible things.

By Your supreme power over every created thing,

and its effects through eternal wisdom,

by Your empowering the creature with respect to his acquisition of deeds,

    with no share of delegation or compulsion;

by Your secret in the decrees, which run as You will,

and there is no room for an objection asking why.

My incapacity has hemmed me in; it is my very core,

and my recourse was to renounce my own might and strength.

So grant me power over Satan and the self,

and if You do not empower me, why the misery of my ruin?

And grant me might that manifests justice without restriction,

through which my rule may be established, annihilating the oppressor.
