For time wages war against the free.

Where can a young man flee from what is decreed for him?

For all affairs are hostages to destiny.

وكل الأمور إلى المهيمن إنه

وكل الأمور إلى المهيمن إنه

تدبيره يقضي على الأفكار

تدبيره يقضي على الأفكار

Entrust all affairs to the Guardian; indeed,

His governance prevails over all thought.

ماذا تريد من الزمان وصرفه

أفلا اتكلت على المعين الباري

أفلا اتكلت على المعين الباري

What do you seek from time and its turns?

Why not trust in the Helper, the Creator?

أترى الزمان مؤثراً في نفسه

أترى الزمان مؤثراً في نفسه

والأمر مرجعه إلى مختاري

والأمر مرجعه إلى مختاري

Do you think time has power in itself,

When every affair rests with the One who chooses for me?

واصبر فإنك ناجح إن كنت في

واصبر فإنك ناجح إن كنت في

نوب الصروف بمنهج الصبار

نوب الصروف بمنهج الصبار

And be patient, for you will succeed if, amid

The blows of fortune, you follow the path of the steadfast.

واجعل صلاحك مسلكاً لتنال من

واجعل صلاحك مسلكاً لتنال من

بر الكريم مواهب الأبرار

بر الكريم مواهب الأبرار

And make righteousness your path, to gain from

The Generous One's bounty the gifts granted to the righteous.

كم كربة نزلت وضاق نطاقها

فتفرجت باللطف والأيسار

فتفرجت باللطف والأيسار

How many a distress has descended, its confines closing in,

Then been dispelled through gentle grace and ease!

ما خاب من وكل الأمور لربه

فهو المفرج كربة الأعسار

فهو المفرج كربة الأعسار

Never has one failed who entrusted his affairs to his Lord,

For He dispels the anguish of hardship.
