Thus I have never feared the blows of time in dread.

so I have not fearfully dreaded any calamity of time.

I entrust my affairs, my dire need, and my tribulation

To an everlasting Omnipotent, who dispels every grave affliction—

to an all-powerful, abiding One, who dispels intractable difficulty.

محيط بكليات عجزي وفاقني

قدير أزل ضعفي ووهني معجلا

One who encompasses every aspect of my helplessness and all that overwhelms me.

You encompass every aspect of my helplessness and have surpassed me;

O Powerful One, swiftly remove my weakness and frailty.

Remove the weakness of my condition, O Strong One, with a power

Divine and majestic, in which I may remain arrayed.

I seek refuge in the Compeller of the heavens, hoping

O Able One, exchange my helplessness for a power

So, O Able One, replace my helplessness with a power

Divine, through which I may manifest justice among all creation.

قريب ترى ما مس جنبي فاعضلا

I have called with the cry of one seeking refuge, and You, O

I have prayed the prayer of one seeking refuge, and You, O

Near One, see what has touched my side and grown grievous.

أجب دعوات يا مجيب بثثتها

وفرج على عبد أتاك معولا

Answer, O Answerer, the prayers I have poured forth,

And grant relief to a servant who has come to You relying upon You.

ترى سوء حظي يا كبير وذلتي

فيا متعال خذ بجدي إلى العلى

You see my ill fortune, O Great One, and my humiliation;

O Most Exalted, raise my lot to the heights.

so, O Exalted One, take my fortune to the heights.

ولم أخش اذلالاً وكان تعززي

بركنك عزاً يا عزيز وموئلا

Then I shall fear no humiliation, for my strength shall be

In Your stronghold—an honor, O Almighty One, and a refuge.

through Your support was honor, O Mighty One, and a refuge.

أيدركني ضيم نصيري ومن تكن

له ناصراً مولاي كان المبجلا

له ناصراً مولاي كان المبجلا

Could oppression overtake me while You are my helper? Whoever has

You as his supporter, my Lord, becomes the honored one.

as his helper, my Master, is held in honor.

ترى ظلم قومي يا مهيمن جانبي

فجرد عليهم من مواضيك مقصلا

فجرد عليهم من مواضيك مقصلا

You see how my people have wronged me, O Guardian;

You see my people's wrongs against my person, O Guardian;

So unsheathe against them a cutting sword from among Your sharp blades.

بعزك مجد يا مجيد مهابتي

بعزك مجد يا مجيد مهابتي

يظل لها خصمي العنيد مذللا

By Your might, O Glorious One, exalt the awe I inspire,

That my stubborn foe may remain humbled before it.

so my obstinate adversary remains humbled before it.

وكد من رماني يا ودود بكيده

وكد من رماني يا ودود بكيده

فكيدك للأعداء لا زال اقتلا

فكيدك للأعداء لا زال اقتلا

Thwart, O Loving One, whoever has assailed me with his scheming;

And outwit whoever assailed me with his plotting, O Loving One;

May Your counter-scheme against the enemies never cease to strike them down.

so may Your stratagem against enemies ever remain more deadly.

بسر اسمك الفعال في الكل آتنى

بسر اسمك الفعال في الكل آتنى

نفوذ القوى في الفعل والقول مجملا

نفوذ القوى في الفعل والقول مجملا

By the mystery of Your Name, active throughout all things, grant me

By the secret of Your name, effective in all things, grant me

The effective reach of every power in deed and word, made complete.

the full efficacy of powers in deed and speech.

بحولك يا ذا القوة ادفع نكايتي

ومتن حظوظي يا متين وكملا

By Your might, O Possessor of strength, ward off the harm done to me;

Strengthen my fortunes, O Firm One, and perfect them.

ويا صادقاً في قوله حقق الرجا

فما زلت في الانجاز منك مؤملا

O One ever true to His word, fulfill my hope,

And O One true to His word, fulfill my hope;

For I have never ceased to hope for fulfillment from You.
