الهي جعلت الكائنات فقيرة

إليك ضعافاً في عقال المشيئة

إليك ضعافاً في عقال المشيئة

My God, You made all created beings needy—

My God, You made all beings in need

before You, powerless in the tether of the divine will.

of You, weak, held in the tether of Your will.

فمن لي باغنائي سواك وكل ما

فمن لي باغنائي سواك وكل ما

سواك فقير لا يقوم بخلتي

سواك فقير لا يقوم بخلتي

Who, then, can enrich me but You, when everything

other than You is poor and cannot fulfill my need?

وشدة ضري في قضائك دعوة

And in the extremity of my affliction under Your decree, I called—

And the severity of my distress is, in Your judgment, a prayer,

distraught; my Lord, my prayer did not take shape in words.

الهي قديم البر والذكر منك لي

وتربيتي في كل طور بنعمة

وتربيتي في كل طور بنعمة

My God, Your goodness and remembrance of me are from of old,

My God, Your long-standing kindness and remembrance of me,

as is Your nurturing me with a blessing at every stage,

and Your nurturing me at every stage with a blessing,

وتيسيرك الأسباب لي من وجوهها

وتيسيرك الأسباب لي من وجوهها

واغناؤك اللهم لي فوق منيتي

واغناؤك اللهم لي فوق منيتي

Your easing the means for me through their avenues,

and Your easing the means for me through their avenues,

and Your enriching me, O God, beyond my fondest wish.

and Your enriching me, O God, beyond my wish—

وهذا امتنان منك لم أحتسب له

وهذا امتنان منك لم أحتسب له

بامنية تعدوك رب ونية

بامنية تعدوك رب ونية

All this is a favor from You I had never expected

and this is favor from You that I had not reckoned on

through any wish or intention that looked beyond You, my Lord.

وأنت الذي تغني وتقني بمنة

وأنت الذي تغني وتقني بمنة

على غير ما استحقاق عبد لذرة

You are the One who enriches and makes content by sheer favor,

And You are the One who enriches and grants possessions as a favor,

not because a servant deserves even a speck.

without any servant deserving even a mote.

جنانيك يا مغني ابسط العز والغنى

جنانيك يا مغني ابسط العز والغنى

بفضلك لي لا تبتذلني لفطرة

بفضلك لي لا تبتذلني لفطرة

Your protection, O Enricher! Spread forth honor and sufficiency

[Your mercy], O Enricher! Extend dignity and wealth

for me by Your grace; do not abase me before created nature.

to me through Your grace; do not abase me for a meal.
